Cats love to sit on tall objects, as we all know, but this brave cat unintentionally took his love of heights to a whole new level.
San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) Animal Care Officers received a 311 complaint on Friday regarding a cat that was stuck on a ledge above a nearby bridge. Upon arrival to the scene, Animal Care Officer Tutak and Animal Care Sgt. Flores saw the orange cat lying on the edge of a very tall ledge, which is definitely not the safest place for it to be.
According to an ACS Facebook post, the officers approached the cat extremely carefully to avoid startling it into jumping from its perilous predicament because it was in such danger. Bridges was a fitting moniker for the cat given his favorite area to lounge.
As evident by his unwelcoming expression in the Facebook pictures, Bridges wasn’t entirely sure of the cops at first. However, after realizing they were there to assist, he warmed up to them and finally allowed them to pick him up and take him to safety.
Following the successful rescue, the authorities did not sure how long the courageous cat had gone without food or drink, so they transported “stunt devil Bridges” to an emergency room for evaluation. The majority of the visit’s findings were positive; Bridges appeared to be in good health aside from a potential respiratory illness. The cat came to ACS “for further love and care” after he was discharged from the emergency department.
According to ACS education specialist Kaitlan Helton, the organization receives calls similar to this one on a regular basis. This week, Bridges wasn’t the only one. According to Helton, she believes they have performed three “incredible cat rescues,” one of which involved pulling up a manhole cover to save a cat that was trapped in the sewer below.
Helton claims that despite the fact that Bridges appeared a bit agitated in his rescue pictures, the orange guy is actually a pretty loving cat and is settling in to shelter life quite nicely.
He’s a pretty lovely cat, in fact. Helton tells Daily Paws, “It was evident from the pictures that he was really stressed out when he appeared a bit hissy on the bridge. He was a very different cat when we first brought him in.
There may be more good news in store for Bridge. According to Helton, they believe they have located his family, who should be reunited with their lost cat on Thursday.
