AN ADORABLE, LAZY, EASY-GOING MATCH.
I joined my family when I was six weeks old, as a gift for Vera’s tenth birthday. And the reality is that we were a wonderful fit from the start: we are both charming, lazy, easygoing, and obstinate; we move slowly, never in a hurry, and, most importantly, we like sleeping!
My life is usually quite nice and comfortable. There were a few moments that were quite stressful, but I chose to remain tolerant since I adore my family. Let me be more explicit with this assertion. I used to be the only cat in the home, and my greatest companion was Masha, a beautiful German Shepherd. She was wonderful; I say “was” since she is no longer with us.
I’ve no idea where she went. My people have mentioned the phrases sickness, old age, and departed away. I truly hope she is okay, no matter where she is now. While Masha was still with us, my family got another puppy named Blacky, which was quite fitting because she resembled a black ball of fur! She did not replace Masha in my heart, but what can I say? She is older, less lively, still rather little, and has some peculiar tendencies (still!). She often misidentifies me as a different type of partner, which is quite aggravating. I am, after all, a well-educated cat!
A tragedy after another
The first sad experience in my life occurred when the family brought home a little cat, but she quickly vanished. Again, I heard the term sickness. It was quite uncomfortable.
About three years ago, tragedy struck again. The family also took in another kitten, little and active, who had evidently been saved from the streets. She was adorable, but I quickly realized that my quiet existence would be over! They named her Laska, and she could be found wherever! All of the people were lovely to her, even my Vera! She addressed her as “my cat”. So who was I? I felt like I had lost my identity and purpose in life. She grabbed everything from me and was gradually entering my area.
Not to mention her poor education, or lack thereof! She would frequently leap over the fence and disappear to play with the stray cats on the street. She was just 11 months old, but she was restless! One day, I saw she had gained weight, and her tummy was becoming wider by the day. She was about to burst!
The Mystery of the Big Belly
The riddle was revealed one day when I returned home from my morning stroll in the garden. It was a Friday – I will never forget that day! Strange conversations were coming from the kitchen, so I stepped in to check what was up. The sheer number of kittens left me stunned. 3? No, wait four. Oh, no! 5! What are we planning to do? Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy children, but I can’t have any of my own since I had surgery. Eventually, the notion of caring for the children appealed to me, and I was prepared to serve as a father figure to them.
But the truth was far different. They were boisterous, demanding, and constantly hungry! I pitied Laska, even if I still disliked her! For more than two months, she had no personal life. Finally, in September, four of the children were adopted by family friends, and we said our goodbyes. I was upset, but I think the house was too tiny for all of us. Fortunately, one of the kittens remained with us. Matei, Vera’s brother, decided he wanted a cat of his own. I’m delighted we retained her since she is much better behaved than her mother. I suppose my impact is quite obvious in her upbringing. She is courteous, considerate, and pleasant to be around.
I can’t get enough animals in my life.
However, this family has an insatiable appetite for animals! A new puppy was brought in in October of 2016. She is insane, and they gave her the name Coffee! She devours everything and attacks both people and animals. To teach her proper behavior, they even hired a trainer. She has a long way to go, but I can see the development. I blame her character, which is really annoying! They still love her, though. This is really strange!
WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE HOSTAGED
I have had two periods of fear in my life. As annoying as they are, neither of them has anything in common with any of my siblings! Despite my good looks, I am a modest cat. Therefore, it is only natural for people to be mesmerized. They are obsessed with me! I got into a lot of trouble twice because of this! I spent almost three weeks as a prisoner back in 2009. The fact that I was unable to leave my jail made it more distressing.
They kept me in the dark, fed me very little, and had me spend time with a cat I didn’t know or intend to grow close to. In 2017, the same thing happened again. They imprisoned me for a month and a half this time.
I believed that people were clever. Look at me—at least my human family is highly educated! It still amazes me that my captors didn’t realize I had surgery and couldn’t conceive. I accept this fact, even though I realize it is unfortunate, and I have complete faith in my family’s judgment. I hope they would stop bothering me! Laska is included! Oh, don’t bring it up again!
